The Student Placement Center provides an initial language skills
assessment for new and returning students who speak a language other
than English. The assessment takes approximately 30 minutes per
student. We do an oral and listening assessment for students in grades
1 - 6, and a written assessment for students in grades 7 - 12. The
purpose of the assessment is to determine eligibility in one of our
English Language Learners (ELL) programs. The Saint Paul Public Schools offer ELL programs for students at all levels of English language proficiency.
